To find out about social events, our annual lecture, GTP information, mentoring scheme and much more, why not join the FLS Postgraduate Society Facebook group? We regularly update our page with upcoming events, from pub quizzes to public engagement opportunities! We also try to regularly update members via the faculty intranet email announcements and specific section-group emails.
The society’s email address is also there for anyone who would like to get in touch with us directly: firstname.lastname@example.org
Adjusting to a new city and new lab, as well as the switch from work or undergraduate degree to postgraduate life is a daunting proposition for any new student in the Faculty. Although individual lab groups make a great effort to welcome new students, the transition is not always as straightforward as it seems. That is where the FLS Postgraduate Society steps in! We aim to help post-graduate research students in the Faculty get in touch with their peers and make the most of their time as a postgraduate student.
The Society was formed in 2008, and currently consists of a group of around 15 PhD student reps. These students, with the support of FLS, organise a series of annual events, both social and academic in nature, to help welcome and support new students and encourage interaction of new and current students across the Faculty.
