Mentoring
The FLS Postgraduate Society is also involved with the running of a post-graduate mentoring scheme, which supports the integration of new PhD students into their programme. During induction week, each new PhD student will be assigned a student mentor who works in a similar field. Mentors are another port of call for students in case of problems or queries about any aspect of life in FLS. Regular meetings are held between mentor and student to allow progress monitoring and any issues to be addressed.
This scheme has been very successful in easing the induction of new students into the Faculty and providing an informal forum to field all those ‘silly’ questions you might rather not ask your supervisor!
