Just thought it would be a good idea to talk about where I am living. Manchester has the largest university in the UK and is also one of the largest cities. It is therefore of no surprise that there is a wide range of accommodation (both private and university owned) available for students.
Personally, I opted for Salford, just across the river from Manchester. I am living in a private apartment in Salford Quays, which is soon to be the home of the BBC. The excellent transport links, including a metro, means that living further away from university is an option if you want to live in a quieter area away from the hustle and bustle of the studenty areas. Also, there is parking available to postgraduates, and I have chosen to drive into university. However, other students can live in areas such as Fallowfield if they still wish to be fully involved in student life.
