Education

We offer several different options for advanced training in Bioinformatics:
BSc
Our pioneering BSc in Biological and Computing Science (Bioinformatics) combines the core elements of both disciplines, and is augmented with specialist teaching in bioinformatics from experts in the field. By the final year, students can choose to specialise in the more computational or biological aspects, through choice of units and honours projects.
For further information see Life Sciences' Undergraduate pages.
MSc
The first Bioinformatics MSc in the UK, this programme provides students with a practical and theoretical knowledge of modern biochemistry and molecular biology, along with techniques of computer science, IT and mathematics, sufficient to prepare them with the necessary multidisciplinary training for careers in biotechnology or further research work.

Online Training/eLearning
We have produced a number of resources to facilitate bioinformatics education and training in both traditional face-to-face and self-paced settings. BioActivity was one of the first interactive bioinformatics practicals on the Web. Recently, this has been extended as part of the EMBER project in collaboration with a professional multimedia publisher: together, we have produced a new Web-based tutorial, with a stand-alone version on CD-ROM.
Access online training: Bioactivity and EMBER.
Research Degree Programmes
For information on MRes, MPhil and PhD opportunities see the Life Sciences' Postgraduate research for UK or EU students or the Postgraduate research for International students pages. Please direct informal enquires to the CEB researcher you're interested in working with.
