Work Experience Programme for 2013

The Faculty of Life Sciences is running a Work Experience Programme open to Year 10 pupils for a full week between the 8th and 12th July 2013.

Successful applicants will be paired up with their own research group, and will have the opportunity to experience activities in the research labs during the course of the programme, as well being given their own mini-project to complete. The schedule for the programme is a packed one, including campus tours, exploring some of the fantastic facilities within the Faculty of Life Sciences, hearing about the exciting careers studying Life Sciences can lead to, visiting the Manchester Museum, and attending taught practical sessions in the laboratories.

To be considered for work experience please apply online by Friday 31 May 2013.

Researchers within the Faculty of Life Sciences are often asked if they are able to host work experience students. The Faculty runs a structured Work Experience Scheme with specifically targeted local schools and will be unable to accommodate requests outside of this scheme.

Please do not contact researchers directly as all placements must be arranged centrally to ensure compliance with the legislative requirements.

Staff members please see the How to pages for more information. (You will be prompted to login to the intranet.)

Nuffield Bursary Scheme

The Faculty participates in the Nuffield Bursary Scheme. Students in the first year of a post-16 science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) course are eligible to apply for a bursary of £80 per week to support them during their project.
